It was on the local news last night. A woman fought of a would be carjacker by wrestling his gun away and stabbed him with a pair of scissors. She was driving a maroon color Syncro with a white high top. The guy tried to carjack another car, failed again. End up carjacked a third one successfully. This happened in Berkley, across the bay from San Francisco.

He's better off with the Subaru (car he actually drove off in), at least he'll be able to make something resembling a quick getaway. _________________ '69 Mike

Lol,
I see that van around Berkeley once in awhile. Next time I see it I'll make a gun gesture with my hand and point to my crotch with the other and see her reaction. That should be good for a laugh.

Vanagon owners are not normal folk.
"You can have my AW syncro when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers."
That'd make a nice bumper sticker for her. _________________ One of these days I'm gonna settle down,

Yeah ... I may get plugged some day for resisting but I'll be d**ned if I'll let some unworthy schmuck just drive off with my rig while I stand there waving. |

Ummm...
that Whole Foods is about 3 blocks from my house.
i've checked out her adventurewagen in that exact parking lot before, and it's pretty clean.
she's clearly a ballsy woman!
Coincidentally, we are about to move away from this neighborhood...and with all the homeless folks around here it is not uncommon for a car's window to get cracked overnight if people leave stuff out in plain view. I've sort of been waiting for my camper to become victim to this, but luckily it never has.
I've certainly never seen anyone robbed or carjacked at gunpoint though...
it's so rediculous. _________________ '86 Wolfy Westy Weekender

I'll be quoting that line for a few weeks.....
Maybe this dude was just tired of the inflated price of syncros lately?
Thats one of the funniest videos i've seen in awhile. Its good to see a somewhat happy ending. _________________ 89 Bostig powered syncro westy |

If the guy gets a nice infection from her scissor wounds, he will remember that far longer than he would remember spending another few weeks in jail hanging out with his buddies. |

We had gotten into the passive reaction to bad conduct. Bad conduct from criminals, we are supposed to endure it and let the "system' deal with them. Bad conduct from kids, well they will develop more naturally (hopefully into organ donors). Finally, we mostly reacted passively to terrorists, one group fought back rather than ride passively into the buildings awaiting the 'system' to deal with them.
Yes armed and aggressive Americans are somewhat scary, but this stance has kept King George out of our faces for 235 years. The system does not work, in spite of all the police shows. Most murders are unsolved and most property criminals go relatively unpunished. Drug offenders fill most jails to capacity due to mandatory sentencing guidelines. This policy has been as effective in controlling drugs as our Cuba policy has been in overthrowing Castro.
The really sad aspect that most have failed to pick up on this incident. Women can use deadly force if they perceive a danger to themselves. Men must be actually be physically harmed to respond in the same manner. Kind of 'Animal Farm' equality. _________________ Geology with a Syncro rocks!
