Lots of people have a new years resolution to loose weight. Post your weight today and your goal. We can see who looses the most by 6-1-09, and who keeps the most off by 12-31-09. And remember the winner gets absolutely nothing.

I weight 200 lbs.
My goal is 170 lbs.

My plan is to eat smaller portions at meal time, no snacks in between meals, and nothing after 6:00pm.

245lbs, 6'2"
Since Oct. I have lost 20 lbs. I was down 30 at one time, but the holidays, with the fudge and cookies. My highest has been 265 lbs.
My goal for the year is to get down to 220 lbs. Where I was when I quit smoking.

I've been there once.

I'm 6'0"

started off at 225

down to 175 in 3 months....

Atkins diet, but I was able to keep it off, this was 8 years ago and I am still 185!!!!!!

I never want to be that big again, so I weigh myself at least once a week!!

234.5 as of yesterday.
Goal is 175.

In 2005 I went from 222 down to 174 in four months and kept it off for about a year, then slowly gained it back+ in the last two years.

255# @ 6'3" as of 12-31-08 I am going to get down to 235 by 06/01 and a 36 inch waist, whereas I am at 38ish now. I was up to 42" at one point, but I am tired of being embarrassed at the thought of being in public without a shirt on. I was down to 4% body fat when I was in the military and I am going to get down near there again, by June.

My biggest self barrier is that I like to overeat, even when I know I shouldn't, so that is out the door!!! And, I am going to cut out sugar and basically any white flour, potatoes etc. I am not going to end up diabetic like my father!!!

No kidding,

for 3 month I ate...

slim jims
eggs (hard boiled mainly)
broccoli
bologna
ham
sliced cheese
and enough grilled chicken salads to choke a donkey!!!

it worked though

38 waist to 32 in 3 months way back in 2000 still the same, but still have to watch that I don't get back in the habit of eating late at night!!

Oh, and for 3 months I had to sleep on the couch b/c I farted like a pack mule!!!!! Laughing

At 5'-10" I'm looking to get back to 165. Only 30 to go. Figured out scotch and soda has half the calories as a beer, so I'm giving up Sierra Nevada for a while.

People: Well, you know...
Leader: We have someone graduating tonight, I'm sure he will be an inspiration to us all. Tell us how much you lost, Clint.
Clint: Eighty pounds.
Leader: Eighty pounds, that's wonderful, and you're keeping it off with the diet?
Clint: Well, mainly with the substitutions.
Leader: The substitutions?
Clint: Yeah, you know, one milk portion equals one scotch, one bread portion equals one scotch...
Leader: But Clint, but Clint, what about your balance, your fruits and your vegetables?
Clint: Bloody Mary and a stick of celery.
Leader: Well, the point is you've done it, Clint. Could you tell us your secret?
Clint: My secret? You people here were my secret. Anytime I felt like giving up, I thought of you people here.
Leader: Oh, isn't that wonderful.
Clint: You gave me the impetus, because, quite frankly, you people are fat. You people are disgustingly fat, you roly poly porkers really make me puke.
Leader: Now, Clint, you can't say that.
Clint: Oh yeah, keep on talking so I can see where your mouth is.
Lotta: You used to be fat too.
Clint: Yeah, so I couldn't say anything, but now I'm thin, I can tell you gluttons off. There's so much sweat in this room, I have salt stains on my Hush Puppies!
Leader: We are trying to change, Clint!
Clint: Oh, please, don't say the word "change." The though of you hippos sliding in and out of your polyester tarpaulins is enough to make my oatmeal hit the wall.
Leader: The important thing is that people care enough to come to these meetings...
Clint: The only reason people come to these meetings is, this place has double doors.
Lotta: I don't think that's funny.
Clint: Well, I don't care what you think, Little Lotta. Anyone with no discernible neck is not allowed to have an opinion.
Lotta: You're no better than us!
Clint: No, but I'm thinner. The hairs on your head are an inch apart; to find your knees, you have to check for the indent; and look at your feet--okay, trick question--but take it from me, your ankles are drooping over the sides of your shoes; and you, the Mama Cass impersonator.
"Mama Cass": I'm very proud of the weight I've lost. I'm now down to a size 13.
Clint: A size 13 what, battleship? And stop pointing those bowguns at me.
Leader: That's not much of an attitude, Clint.
Clint: Yeah, but that's how I get it! Anytime I felt like chowing down, I thought of you butterballs, how your backs spill over your chairs. It was inspirational, and I really wanna thank you all.
Leader: Oh, well, you're welcome...
Clint: Don't talk to me, I don't talk to fat people anymore. I mean, my God, some of you have dimples on your noses. All right, I'm through with this, now I'm joining A.A.

Atkins FTW.I started november 4th.I started 6'3 ,252 lbs.Now after all the holidays & parties I'm at 233.If not for the neighbors bringing over cookies & fudge for the holidays I'd probably been in the 220-230 range..My goal is 207..
I actually started it because I was losing focus while at work ,I believed it was either A.D.D. or my bloodsugar..I had previously done Adkins ,lost 35 or so pounds back in 99',I kept it off for a long time.I recalled something I had read in Dr.Adkins book if you were losing focus & tired alot ,that you should check your sugar..

I beat the new years resolution by a few days. I went to my doctor's the tuesday before christmas. I learned that I wasn't in good health at all. Blood sugar (150 is the high side of normal) mine was over 400. Triglycerides (fat in the blood, less than 150 is good) mine was 3300 (not a typo). I'm 6-2 and weighed 269.

I'm on a few meds now to help control triglycerides and blood sugar. I've been eating much better, started riding an exercise bike 20 minutes before work each day, and have stepped up my mountain bike riding (which I love to do anyway). I don't really have a specific goal as far as weight. I was down to 225 about 8 years ago and that was a good weight for me. I'm mainly interested in bringing my numbers under control and getting into good enough shape to start mountain bike racing.

So far, its working. I went for a ride this morning, and 2 hours after lunch, my blood sugar was 190. I honestly believe I'll be able to keep it up this time because my high numbers were really starting to affect me. I was always tired, have developed bumps on my elbows and ankles that are from high triglycerides and cholesterol, and I was having severe pains in my hands when working in the garage. I've also seen both my parents and my older sister go on insulin and I know that once you go on insulin, you're on it for life.

So I guess for this contest,

Current 265lbs
Goal 225lbs

5'9"
168#
26% fat
34" waist
37" belly

I would like to be back down to a 31" waist and 10%or less body fat, the weight all depends on how much muscle I have. The beer gut has to go!

I think I am bloated from all the beer. This should be fun to see how well we all do with this endeavor.
