A couple weeks ago I mounted a GPS in my van. I added a 12V outlet on my steering column...away from anything that rotates, and used epoxy putty for the mount. I used the 12V outlet because I didn't want to hardwire it so I could move the GPS between cars. The mount is permanent, however.
The new 12V plug goes to my Blue Seas fuse box mounted on the front of the driver's seat that goes to my aux battery/Yandina that has other 12V outlets, Vmeter and propex on it.
An old file folder holder protects the fuse box from spills and rain when the door is open. Kind of lame, but it works well and surprisingly it is not in the way.

Cool. Your steering wheel is upside down.
Can you touch the screen easily while driving? _________________ Sent from a white van down the street. |

Yes, my steering wheel is upside down...lol. It was that way when I bought it, so the turn signals don't click off automatically after a turn. I think of it as part of the 'character' of my van and didn't change it.
The GPS screen is very easy to use while driving...and I admit to ignoring the splash-screen warning regarding this. _________________ '85 GL w/2.1L "The Tardis"
