I have the engine out to build something else for Herbie so I decided to take this opportunity to fix the leaky nose cone on the trans axle.

Finally got around to adjusting the spring plates from when we did the bushings two years back. At that time I thought the fact that the engine wasn’t in it made it too hard to lift the spring plate under all that pressure. I didn’t even think of the chain around the jack trick then. I originally did that to get the axle tubes level when I installed the new axle boots with the engine out and body off, back five or six years ago.

its good to see Herbie back on all four tires again. Today hooked up the e- brake cables, put the e- brake boot back on, safety wired the shift coupler put the passenger seat back in, put the rear seat bottom in and bled the rear brakes. Took a test drive may need a little more tuning but running ok so far.

Saturday I took the carb apart pulled out the teck manual and blasted everything out with carb cleaner and fixed the choke. I knew something was up when the thing was running on the secondary cercut just to idle. I put everything back to zero put it on and it ran right away.

Looking over this thread recently I noticed that I kind of left out a lot of before pictures or the connection to them is broken. I had dial up internet then so was e mailing them to photo bucket. I'll be adding them with dates soon. Her at a few early shots:

This was a Christmas, valintine, birthday, mother's day, anniversary present. I went as long as I could with the gift thing. Just kept putting a bow on it.
