I ran across this 1966 Euro Standard. Let's discuss what was standard equipment for a car like this. I have very limited knowledge of late standards, maybe some of our European friends can help out here.

What should it be equipped with... motor, steering wheel, trim level, wheels, etc. ???

Brian,
What an awesome, awesome car !! Steering wheel & column are correct, small license lamp w/the 65-66 deck lid correct, should have a 1200 logo not 1300 logo, no trim, door trim @ windows & vent wing devider painted body color, one horn grill on left none on right, turn signal housings body color. I think by '66 the car had a tunnel trans & 40hp but don't quote me..nor am I sure but I think it would have had the smoothies w/painted dome hubcaps. Would have painted blade bumpers normally and I'd bet the sunroof is original to the car.

Interior looks replaced, it should have been plain cloth seats. Headliner is correct small style.

Should have no running board trim, no gas gauge, would have reserve lever still....

Brian thats a great car you have there. It looks very complete! I dont believe it should have overriders on the bumpers. I have a European 67. Some people say overriders were an option others disagree but Im fairly sure it shouldnt have them. Like Darby said they should be painted. Great ride. You gonna roll it as is or restore it? Either way keep us updated on the car. Did I say thats a great car???

Darby it does have the 1200 logo, ya gotta squint your eyes a bit but it is 1200 logo, and right it did originally have blade bumpers as there are no overrider holes in the fenders and no overrider supports, most likely added later cause they were supposed to be safer or something

I thought standards up to '67 had a 36hp? Or at least that's what I've been told, but it's hard to believe they didn't switch to the 40hp. Also shouldn't it have mechanical drums? That would be sick...

Hydraulic brakes replaced cable brakes on Standard in April 1962.

I scanned some of a 66 standard brochure that I have

http://s132.photobucket.com/albums/q16/threespoke/standardkafer/literature/?start=20

along with other pics I've collected in the sub albums. I can scan the full brochure if you like.

Does it have the reserve lever still attached? And that decklid ! post 64 bugs had the center "W" ridges flare out for the wider licence light. But that one doesn't but has the later button lock, and that 1200 emblem! Strange. You would think it would cost more to produce these extra parts.
Does it have model 115 on the ID plate?

Here's one thing I didn't see as getting noticed...

There's an antenna but no radio! And if I remember correctly, antennas were dealer options, not factory. Correct me if I am wrong on that though.

Either way, it's a beautiful standard. Me thinks you should buff it out, and see if you can get that hug dent in the fender bumped out without killing the paint right there, and roll it as is.

Me, I'd scan it and send it in to Everett to put on the Archives/Literature/Beetle Brochues page!!

And about the car, got any more photos, like of the engine, floor/carpet, trunk? Awesome to see such a rarity and still with a lot of original parts on it!
