On an original paint bumper what color primer did the factory use and has anyone had slash bumpers come with anything other than L82 paint? Any inconsistencies on the blades to the uprights seen? Thanks |

for a 59- bus the only other color that is listed in the archives is ivory, listed for an ivory bus. _________________ WANTED:

Thanks, the difference on them seems to be the thickness of the paint. The factory appeared to have used a very light coat of drak gray primer, less than .5 a mil. Then followed that up with L82. The difference on the uprights appears to be the fact they were painted at different times and the thickness of the white can alter the shade slightly. I compared them to the wheels and there is a slight difference as well. Due to the fact the wheels have a black primer underneath. Thanks.
Anyone who is interested, I will have an exact match available shortly for the bumpers. |

Actually the wheels were painted black IIRC. That's why NOS wheels are all black.
The white (or other color depending on year) was only applied to the face of the wheels. Generally it wasn't even the complete face that was painted white... they aimed for the area visible w/ hubcap on, so often there is still black paint around the lug nut holes.
It kind of bugs me when I see a pic of a 'perfectly restored bus' on a lift, and you can see the inside of the rims are white
sorry for the detour _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Correct. If I could figure out how to attch a pic, I can post it. Very little paint on them and defenitely darker than the bumpers. |

I cant do spray cans currently, but can do pint, quart, half gallon or gallon in an acrylic urethane. I will try and match it in anenamel as well, urethane is a little tougher. |
