Hi fellas, I have what I think is a type 4 engine out of a 74 412 at least that what it says on the fan housing on the engine. Is there a difference between type 2 valve adj. and type 4 valve adj. procedures? It looks like #1 plug wire is in a different place than on the type 2. There is an after market mechanical dist. on this eng. and the #1 cylinder mark and #1 plug wire is tword the rear left side of the dist. Where should tdc be located. Confused? Me too... Please help thanx Willieb |

The Valve adjust is exactly the same proceedure as on a T-1, Unless it was in a 914 then it becomes a hassle.
THe other difference is on a T-1 it is easy to see the TDC mark on the pulley, but on a 412 or 411 or bus you sometimes have to look through a hole in the fan housing. TO see the mark. Usually there is a rubber plug on the hole.
If you are converting it to an upright then everything is exaclty the same as a T-1. As for the Firing Order it is the same, so the wire should be the same. _________________ email: [email protected]
