Hi fellas, I have what I think is a type 4 engine out of a 74 412 at least that what it says on the fan housing on the engine. Is there a difference between type 2 valve adj. and type 4 valve adj. procedures? It looks like #1 plug wire is in a different place than on the type 2. There is an after market mechanical dist. on this eng. and the #1 cylinder mark and #1 plug wire is tword the rear left side of the dist. Where should tdc be located. Confused? Me too... Please help thanx Willieb

The Valve adjust is exactly the same proceedure as on a T-1, Unless it was in a 914 then it becomes a hassle.

THe other difference is on a T-1 it is easy to see the TDC mark on the pulley, but on a 412 or 411 or bus you sometimes have to look through a hole in the fan housing. TO see the mark. Usually there is a rubber plug on the hole.

If you are converting it to an upright then everything is exaclty the same as a T-1. As for the Firing Order it is the same, so the wire should be the same.
