Pulled a latch from an old 65 decklid I had laying around (non locking).

It had a catch hook that was shorter than what is on Patches (locking type).

Decklid is now open about 1/4 inch, but better than before.

Tried to drill out holes but catch is hardened steel.

Weld some extra material to catch.

Lightly bead blasted inner lower area of original doors skin.
Weld the pitted areas using a piece of flat copper on back side.

I love how the over spray on the donor piece matches the original, it's like it was never replaced. Lookin' good!

Not much to add. Its been really rainy and damp the last couple days.
I have been chasing bare metal with primer to protect from elements.

The front door is completed. Eliminated the rust but will need minor body work. This door got a new lease on life.

I wonder if this door can make it another 44 years.

The nose was replaced at one time. The lip on lower valance that bottom of nose folds over on was riveted to whats looks like the original outer valance.

Where did you find the bottom part of the nose? I have been trying to find it everywhere. Do you have a link?

I enjoyed the SS build.

I am doing a similar route with my 59 kombi I save from the wrecking yard and the PO cut the bulkhead out.

It will be sporting a flipseat that Gerson hooked me up with.

The 67 will be leaving for body and paint as soon as I get the nose back on.

Sara has been very patient with me. If all goes well on her end with paint and body Patches will be at Bulli this year.

Replacing left lower dog-leg inner and outer, and a-pillar.

Weld a support in before cutting away old rusty metal.

Could not use the lower three piece a-pillar. Had to use lower hinge down a-pillar and cut.

Wow this is great. it gives me so much inspiration on doing my bus. I am just not digging in and luckily the majority of the rust is the floors and belly pans from the sunroof falling in and rain pouring in for 26 years. Ol girl spent her life in South Carolina so the frame is excellent in mine. Once I get really into it I will be asking for your advice because I am sure I will stumble upon some major rust issues haha.

I cut the inner lower dog-leg 3 inches longer to stagger the weld which adds strength at the butt-weld.

I have to figure out how to grind down the puddle welds where dog-leg meets pillar.

After digging into the front floor Sara decided to replaced the whole front floor.

I used a rotary file on a air drill to clean them up when I did my panel. Worked great you just have to move slow and control it.
