1.yes cut at 45s
2.no glue.
3.lay it out before doing anything…to avoid upside down, inside out.mistakes.
It can be tricky, do you have all your windows/ channels. Wing windows, screws capture nuts etc?
I did my own, but if I could of found a knowledgeable VW body person, that knew there way around a Kab…I would of paid them gladly, in fact I did pay a very knowledgeable person to assist me, there were some real stumpers from what I recall..after all the kab was mostly a handbuilt car..
Good luck _________________ .

Still working on my top bow but the windows are first.
The door channels are a mess, I am going to wait to see what I can do about those however, I did find a set of rear frames that I was able to fix.
I have the rubber gaskets for the glass (WW), the glass and the frame.
Having installed several parts upside down or backwards I think its best to ask a simple question or two:
1. Can I assume that I will cut the rubber at a 45 at the 90 degree bend?
::My rubber was premaid with corners
2. Install the rubber onto the glass rather than into the channel.
:: Installed rubber on the glass
2b. Glue onto the rubber? Seems like it will stay put once in the channel and held in by the 2 bolts
:: NO Glue, used soap water to get the rubber to enter the u Channel
3. I am going to have to pull on the curved end to get the glass and the rubber into the channel..
:: No Not really Mount the curved part last, and it will glide in with help of the soapy water (Yes, and water).
Taking them apart https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=393100. (2010) is when I took these bad boys apart. Ruptured disks are a bitch

This is how I made the Rear.

And this is for the front doors,
did not have mounting rubber for one vent window so I cheated with some chemicals on that side

Very hard to match and even harder to get a picture of. The March was done off parts of my car. I feel it’s as close as we could get. _________________ 54 Bug

That looks fantastic. I also "had" and Inca but was discouraged by some painters to replicate that color especially if I was doing the job in my garage.
I am also in the reassembly stage and finding it way more difficult than taking it apart 12 years ago _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

changing the beautiful Inca red thread,
anyone have any idea what chrome molding is running these days?
I am missing the passenger side front
I have extra NOS with made in west Germany stickers on them.
One door (has to be cut to fit a vert with hinge covers) a hood, and a passenger rear. All are still in paper... but there is some corrosion on a few that I only had one, still pretty cool.
any tips would be great, I would like to get them out of my stash of extra parts onto a nice oval

ok, here's my next request...
Top interior light contact switch & bracket.
Can someone post a photo of the location on the body of the top interior light contact switch please.
Would also like to see the switch itself in location and whether there's a specific part that makes contact with the switch on the top frame.
Tks. |
Is this what you need
