Wondering if anyone else purchased these and didn't get any more responses?
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2567221
After sending payment via PayPal and hearing back they would be shipped with a tracking number over a week ago, no more communications.
Started a report with PayPal but I have to give them a "reasonable amount of time to reply".
I will post a discussion on the vendor feedback but my guess is they will just change their name and go on as normal.
Anyway, just a heads up since the ad is still up. _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

Issue solved, they didn't appreciate an email from PayPal (but not from me) and returned the payment.
Lack of any or even decent communication seems to be a thing of the past. I have inquired about a half a dozen items for sale here on the samba with no responses. (I have no feedback in the buyer forum, so its not me). _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

Hi All,
looking for suggestion about the placement of these gaskets.
They're located at the back of the rear quarter windows.
From what I can assume they are located on top of the scraper rubber and under under the chrome, but could easily be under the scraper rubber.
Inside or Outside is the second question.
Inside
Outside
Then the "nothing fits" category, old vs new. I am going to have to cut off the back side of both of them to fit when the windows are up.
yes, the convertible is no longer Inca Red _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

Does this pic give any info ? Love that color, did you paint the car with the rubbers on ?
|
I tried to get all of the debris out of that area but it was impossible, so I taped over the areas that would be covered with new rubbers.
I decided to go to the point of sales and ask Chucks
The color is Iceland Green or at least a new version _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

It was heavily talked about in the beginning of this post then I think it just disappeared because I have yet to have found any link whatsoever. Just post after post about it being on the last page lol _________________ GFK

Yo Bros!
It may be mentioned somewhere here in this massive Kabrio discussion thread, but I couldn't find it, so I'll ask.
I notice a subtle difference in the shape of some Kabrio roof "snap hooks" that hold the top tightly down when retracted. The lower base part looks pretty much the same on my examples. More in the shape/style of the hooks, not so much in dimensions. I've attached a couple of photos to show the difference and wonder if it could be chalked up to earlier vs later hooks, different manufacturers, etc. I looks like either style hook will work on Kabrios (I happen to have a 1957 Kab)
Can anyone out there shed some knowledge about this subtle change or can you share which type of snap hook you have on your unmolested Split or Oval Kabs? Thanks!
Bill
p.s. If you have ooodles of these things lying about in your spare parts bins, check my WTT/WTB ad to help me out...

Here’s a picture of the “snap hooks” on my original December 57 convertible I found recently here in the high desert of California. I know my vert isn’t an oval convertible but very early 58 obviously used the snap hook that’s angled more.

Wow! An early 58 that still uses the same snap hook as the ovals. As a data point, it's using that cooler shaped hook with the slope top edge as seen in my photo, the one on the left of the two. I think it's cooler looking and it's dimensions are almost the same as the other so I'm leaning on using that one but I'll have to get it chromed. Thank you for posting the picture, it would be fun to see other oval snap hooks to sort of verify which one I'll want to use.
