Thanks!
Now all I need is a block of time to redo what I've done. _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

i'm curious about to see how you did it your way! as i tried and retried, i'm not yet 100 % sure about my approach even when i feel that i didn't do it almost wrong. _________________ 7/58 Beetle Cabrio RHD |

Here's my window rubber and door sag....
this piece is trouble no way yet to get it to stay in place.
The passenger side is pretty good. I have about a 1/2cm difference between the front and rear window frames. The rear is higher but is adjusted as low as the frame can go with the 2 screws that hold it in place.
The drivers is not as nice and is about 1/2 cm lower than the passenger side as confirmed by the misalignment of the bottom of the door. Again, the drive side is lower.
Not sure what to do about it now, dont think I want to pull the doors and bang out the hinges. _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

You know the right thing to do. Could it just be a door adjustment? A smidge? _________________ .

so you did decide to go this way along with the weatherstrip.
when i turned it to and fro and left and right, i found it would better suit the other way not letting a gap between the end of the chrome strip and the door edge. it clearly has a trapezoid shape that fits at its best when aligned to the door end, thus on the driver's side.
and yes, it must be glued in its place before fixing the chrome strip. _________________ 7/58 Beetle Cabrio RHD |

Okay, while getting my '57 Kabrio cleaned up and having new W.W. pan halves installed (thanks Roy Jonas!!!) I noticed two holes in the horizontal surface of the luggage shelf behind the rear bench seat. The holes were slightly oblong in shape, about the same size and shape as each other and in about the same position on the left and right side of that area. I'm wondering if other 1957 Kabriolett owners noticed this on their cars or if some P.O. drilled these in for some reason. Any ideas after seeing the photos?
The general rear luggage area:
one of the holes:
look hard and you'll see both of the holes:
You don't get to see/check-out Oval Beetle Kabrioletts much in my area of the country, so any advice from Kab owners about these holes would be helpful. I'm eventually gonna need to either leave 'em alone or weld them up. Do they have a purpose?

these are equally existent on my 6/58 vert as well, covered by a type of bulge underneath the trunk panel. i never figured out for what reason they are in there.
in the pic attached you can perceive this bulge at 9 o'clock in the upper left above the gear bolt in top of the trans.
they seem functionless in every respect.
any idea? _________________ 7/58 Beetle Cabrio RHD |

Hey Bill, how are you ? My 56 convertible has them also. I’m pretty sure they are jig holes when the cars were assembled to keep everything in line during welding. I’m almost certain my 56 ragtop has them also, it’s in my garage at my other house or I would check. See if Martha has them ?

beautiful and unique outfit. note the beauty rings and black rims, probably ex factory.
interesting to see that secondary colour reached up beyond trims and met beading. never before payed attention to that. _________________ 7/58 Beetle Cabrio RHD
