Plug your ears but does this immorality occur inside a Vanagon? https://www.reddit.com/r/TikTokCringe/comments/103..._annoying/ _________________ Vanagon ’83 diesel AAZ w/Giles injection, 5spd 4.57R&P+TBD and a '78 diesel Rabbit |

I was watching "Shorty's Dream Shop" on Motortrend last night (another of my favorite Motortrend shows) and they did a 1960 bus restoration for a VW shop owner. They delivered it to him and I spied a couple of Vanagons.
The shop also had a giant LT 4x4, an Iltis, a few Mk4 R32s , and tons of other VW's.

So, as I recover from hernia surgery I find myself watching too many questionable movies. Sharknado was interrupted by a Gold Bond lotion commercial. For a very brief moment I spotted a white Vanagon with an LT mirror. I actually found a photo of it with a Google search.

Just out today:

Funny, this looks like me down to the headrests. BTW, the new Apple Silicon M1 14" Macbook is awesome! A real battery miser! For the bonus, run both the Macbook and external display from USB-C! It's great! _________________ Vanagon ’83 diesel AAZ w/Giles injection, 5spd 4.57R&P+TBD and a '78 diesel Rabbit |

Just got this in my inbox from Banks Power today:
Banks iDash Headed for Unusual Swap
Almost any pressure, temp, and speed can be displayed with an iDash even if the vehicle didn't come off the production line with many sensors. All that's needed is an iDash and Banks 4-Channel or 5 -Channel Analog Sensor Module, Case in point is Jocelyn’s project vehicle.
“I have a VW Westfalia Syncro that I’m installing a TDI ALH engine into. It’s using a mechanical fuel injection pump out of a Landrover, so it doesn’t use any of the electronics from the original Jetta that the engine came from. It will use the original VNT turbo, but with a new digital VNT controller.”
“I looked everywhere for a reliable multi-gauge solution since I need to watch EGT, oil temp, water temp, oil pressure, and boost. And eventually, I want to have a transmission oil cooler so I need to monitor temp for that as well. I considered PLX Devices but felt Banks' products were of higher quality. The iDash gauge had alarms for all sensors, better expandability, and looked nicer. The Analog Modules will make adding more sensors a snap when I see the need for them. I didn’t want to resort to a dash full of gauges that I constantly needed to scan while driving. One iDash display everything I need and more.”
Jocelyn's Banks iDash sensor system so far:
(x1) iDash SugerGauge
(x1) 5 Channel Analog Module with frequency
(x1) 4-Channel Analog Module
(x2) Fluid temp kit, 1/8 NPT
(x1) Pressure sensor, 100 PSIG, 1/8 NPT
(x1) B-Bus starter kit
(x1) Single gauge pod kit
(x1) Pressure sensor, 15 PSIA, 1/8 NPT
(x1) Temperature sensor, 0-1575°F
(x1) 4-ft BanksBus extension cable
(x2) 6-ft BanksBus extension cable
We’re really looking forward to seeing how the system turns out.

This frame is from the intro to BBC World News America that runs daily. Location uncertain. The camera operator is on foot, so the van doesn't come into sharp focus. While the clip ends before conclusion, it's all but certain they're looking for seam rust.

German classic car magazine "Auto Bild Klassik", January 28 2023. Article* on various popular taxis utilized during the country's transition years of the late 1980's. VW created a special Vanagon version for West Berlin taxis in 1987, with a turbo-diesel engine, automatic transmission, and an electrically-operated sliding door. When the sliding door opened, a step automatically came out from the rocker area for ease of access.
