Hey guys, I got sick of trying to decode m-plates by cross referencing all the different pages on Type2.com. It is a great resource, but seems like a lot of leg work every time you want to decode something.

Anyway, so a couple months ago I started working on this automated decoder where you could put in the various numbers and letters on the m-plate itself into boxes on a webpage that are approximately lined up to where the they are on the actual m-plate.

So, I actually forgot about this little side project until recently. I can hardly even remember where I was in the process. I know the 70+ models decoder doesn't work right at all. [UPDATE: 02/15/2009--THE 70+ DECODER IS WORKING!]

However, I think I was close to done with the 68-69 decoder as long as the codes were entered into the right blocks.

I was wondering if any of you that have 68 or 69 model year buses would take the time to properly enter your m-plate data into the page and see if it spits back information that looks right. Remember, this is essentially just regergitating the same thing you would get if you manually decoded it on type2.com--just a lot easier and faster.

I make no warranties or anything here, and the page may straight bomb out on you--but I would like any constructive feedback that you all could provide.

Oh, and the page is only for bays...because I'm cold like that. Splitty owners will just have to do things the hard way. Twisted Evil

Thanks guys, I don't think this needs to be a sticky at this point but some people entering m-codes and validating some of the output would really help a lot.

Just go through the big m-code thread and start typing; see if it matches.

The logic is written in thrown together Microsoft Classic ASP and uses a SQL Server 2005 database to pull the m-code data from and parse it out into meaningful information. It's not hard, just a little time consuming.

Once the basic logic is done, I'll add more fancy error checking and bells and whistles.

Done that, however true software testing requires that others attempt the same. Software testing by the author is virtually worthless.

I have added it to the helpful threads at the site moderators request. No sticky necessary. A search of M-Code or M-Plate will return the post.

Nice! It's good that you put the effort into it. I'm patiently awaiting the decoder for the later model buses. Cool
