Question???
Will the stock oil pump do the job for a 40hp motor with 69 crank and 83 pistons? Or do I need to upgade to something better?

yes. Just wondering though, are these 40 hp big bore 83's or stock 1500? Did you use 1200 rods or 1300-1600 rods?

Thanks... Very Happy
I'm still in the process of getting everything I need (I have 69 crank and bearings already). I'm using 1200 connecting rods (I plan on dropping rods off this week to get turned). Then I will be ordering the 40hp big bore 83's hopefully next weekend. Wink

You will need to use shims between the case and cylinders. I think about 2.5 mm thick. (Whatever you increase the stroke by, you need shims half of that if you are not using "stroker" pistons or rods.)

10-4 VW Steve...

I dropped off my connecting rods today and they charged me 80 bucks to stamp 1-4 on "tangs", hot tank and turn .020 off eash side.

Did I over pay or is this about right?
