A few nits...

I don't see the popout windows mentioned.

It has "installation of two Weber carburetors, replacing the fuel injection. Its former owner owned a VW restoration and repair facility in Florida" -- Too bad they weren't good enough to fix the FI. I wonder what else they took shortcuts on?

It's got the vintage Pioneer Supertuner FM/tape unit. Nice.

$8K? If it's otherwise original and rust-free, sure.

Some of the comments are hysterically stupid... for example:
"engine was a nightmare to to take apart and rebuild. Bugs were a piece of cake."
"A Pinto 2 brl carb would have been a better choice for street use."

That car has been on CL here in MA for a little while and looks to be solid. Price isn't a crazy starting point for the northeast (more than i've paid for any of mine)

Some of the comments seem ok

I worked at a VW dealership in the late 70s… and I agree, removing the EFI was a mistake, as was putting in the 009 distributor.

The fuel injection was basically bulletproof, as long as you replaced seals occasionally, kept a close eye on the fuel hoses (guess why you don’t see many Type IVs any more), and use only genuine Bosch ignition parts.

A stock Type 3 was about as good an air-cooled car as VW ever made.

edit here's the CL ad
