Camping in it is great but I regret selling the camping kit I had for it.

I fixed the regret issue and ordered another RJ Campers interior. I went with a 58 Westy(ish) style with the fold down seat backs. I can't wait to get it finished and installed.

Better choice than the late model Westy stuff you had before. Nice bus BTW.

I decided to touch up some of the nose and fully paint the emblem.

Big difference, but very subtle. Great job Jason.

I finally got the interior stained and installed. It's a little darker than I wanted but I still dig it. I just need to finish up the table and figure out some seat cushions.

That looks unreal dude! Love the stain...what color did you use?

You gotta post pics of it after the cushions are on.

Thanks Dan. Still looking for the "right" fabric to use. I'll definitely post some pics when I'm done.

I like the Westy patterns but I'm looking for something different. I'd really like to find something similar to the starburst fabric used in 58 Westys. Probably end up just doing a solid color though.

Jason, check out fabricguru.com you can find cheap fabric either as remnants or by the yard and the shipping is cheap. When I was studying furniture upholstery in Boston I bought all my fabric from them. Their inventory is always changing so you just have to check back often.

I'm still looking for fabric that will look good in my Westy. I'd like to find something close to the OG black and red plaid but spending a small fortune on reproduction fabric isn't an option right now. Also, I've yet to find anything similar to the Westfalia black/red plaid in the correct weight or check size. Finding something that looks 50's-60's period correct will do for the time being.

Josh

Josh,

i might be partial to the black and red plaid simply because i actually traveled from Germany to Romania in a 59 flip seat westy in the 90s. During my formative years if you will Smile

A little off topic but come on, thats the reason why the whole Patina thing is tired. I have sand paper that has more "OG" paint on it than that bug does.

Gas Face given.

Thats my old bug. I loved that car and its patina.

Although i wasnt a fan of linseed oil. Dust and pollen would stick to it really bad.

Love the bus btw

It's been a little over a year since it went to France... It would be nice to see what the new owner has been up to with this one.
