OK what about carbs. is it worth the extra 700.00 to go fromm the 34's to the 40's? with a 1776 mild to no cam? I am having anew engine built and will be needing to buy everything. My engine is a stock 1600 DP with Dual stock carbs.

no...

700$

is that the price of the 40's

get some dell 36s for like 350-400

40s would still have to be jetted
for the 1776

You should not need to go to 40's until you are up to about 1900cc or above.

No a T3 40 mm full kit with linkage, manafolds and air cleaners runs about 1,000.

BTW I have searched the web up and down and can't 36 mm Dell'Orto's

Where might one go about acquiring such a set?

So I have mostly been searching sites that sell new carbs and i can't find any 36's made by dell or Weber. So am I correct in thinking they don't make them anymore and and my only option is used?

I have only owned stock carburetors. So I'm leary of buying a used set and then tracking down all the correct linkage, manifolds and air cleaners that will fit under the deck of a SB. Not to mention I don't think i coudl tell if they were worn out or not just by looking at them.

If I'm making too big a deal about it and or some one wants to help me get together all the parts I need I would be very grateful.
