It amazes me now how, before the internet, how difficult it was to find reliable info about The Thing. Back in '92 it took me two years just to find the parts I was missing. Today, probably less than a week. |

I have a question about the tail lights on the Acapulco, these look like from a bus, not the big elephant feet ones, are these correct? _________________ I know you would understand what I'm saying if you could just see my HANDS

181s before 1973 used the old bus tail lights. They continued to use them on European 181s after that. Not sure if the European 181s ever did have elephant feet.
Interesting picture as it looks to have some sort of hooks by the doors. Some provision to run chains across the door openings maybe? _________________ Walküre Restoration Thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=737492 |

That would be sweet.
Everything in my collection that I found so far is posted here:

How can I get at all that data...?
As I see it we have 2 options; USPS or Cloud.
If you put it all in a box & USPS it I will start scanning it at work during lunch on our semi out type scanner and eventually get it all up for the world to enjoy.
OR you could scan it and push it up to the cloud and I will long term archive it on my server and link it all on the archive page.
I will of course treat all material with the ultimate respect and return all of it to you and give you credit on the page for contributing to the community.
If we have enough or folks like it we can burn to CD / DVD for those that have no or minimal internet access for coast.
Anything you can contribute to the 181 archive would be greatly appreciated by all.
What works best for you Ron?
BTW:
Unfortunately I had to carefully slice the spine on all my issues to do this...!
Some pages have age spots so I have been slowly photoshopping them as I have time to make them more easily to consumable.
I am strictly doing this for the community to free the data and consider this a long term project. _________________ "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Okay Thanks
I liked the Christmas picture too, but did not put that in the archive. _________________ "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
