Here's my newest 'updated' tach that I am building. Still 12 volt, but resembles the earlier 6 volt version.

Very Nice! They are eerily similar. Could you send me a shot of what the backside of your tach looks like?

I started with the same tach as 'grdubuque' and put a chrome ring on it and printed a backing image that matched the colour of the other gauges and re-coloured the needle and button, i think it came out quite nice. What do you think?

I have a 64 Ghia Clock the large clock, that is available for a small fee and also a Speedo. I had a guy here on the forum that I bought a new speedo and had him paint the inside with an orange needle, Came out great. I sent him my clock that was already converted to 12 volt and he painted it red to match and put orange needles on it. I see if I can get some pictures. I have been using just the regular cockpit version VDO. I just need a Tach one now.

Looks like they have a couple different variations of VDO tachs in Germany that aren't available stateside.
http://cgi.ebay.de/VDO-Chrom-international-Drehzah...4152167f5e
This one has a full vee bezel, but it's the only new one I've seen that's 52mm and chrome plated, and compatible with a 67-71 Ghia.

If you don't mind that the face says Volvo, this one looks pretty close to 67-71 Ghia gauges (non-active item, no affiliation)

Johnny, yours actually originated in a 914. But it works quite well and fit in the hole perfectly.
