Anyone have a link for a new diesel engine deck lid cover? Mine is getting pretty worn and I'd like to replace it, but I can't seem to find any online. If you know of a source, I would appreciate it!

I'm pretty sure the deck lid I currently have is from a stock 1.6 D engine. It has recessed parts in the foam that are shaped differently than other deck lids I've seen online.

Slightly OT -- was one style of cover notably lighter than the other? The cover I have is heavy -- manageable but I can foresee the day when the weight and the somewhat awkward way it lifts out could become a problem.

Mine is definitely made of plastic. It's also heavy...because it's soaked in oil. I've cleaned it with some simple green and a spray house which has help some, but it's worn down to the plastic in a few places too.

Here are a few pictures of the inside of my engine cover to verify if it is different looking that any other engine cover out there.

The metal cover is way heavier than the plastic cover Smile

Correct on the 1.9TD. I'm not sure how much taller it is than the stock 1.6, but I assume that's why there is an indentation in the foam on the cover.

wildcat my westy is 1.6 NA and my engine cover which is OG is stupid heavy compared to my 84 westy gas cover (metal vs plastic) and does not have the foam but more of a plastic sheeting covering insulation. I can post a pic if yunt me too
I would imagine as noisy as the diesel engines are the metal engine covers help with the sound deadening.

Your cover looks like nearly every other fibreglass cover out there on the market today. You're unlikely to find another in much better shape than that.

Just wanted to know if anyone knew of a source for a new one! I figured one of you out there was sitting on a warehouse full of these things just waiting for someone to come knocking.

Mine look a lot like the pic in this thread so that old foam scrapes right off
Then i replaced it with that mylar faced engine compartment sound deadener

Does this make it noticeably lighter?
