Polishing a 36hp block will not only make it run hotter, "sealing" the magnesiums "pours" by applying heat resistant paint will only compond the problem even more!!! Why would anybody want to do that UNLESS you can afford to buy a rebuilt 36hp longblock every time you "FRY" your engine......?
I found the best way to dissipate heat from a VW aircooled block is to propler clean the magnesiums surface and then treating it with a chemical treatment as I do below:
