The "hate VWs for their association" thing is unfounded but I still hear it occasionally more than Japanese cars. I also see people and children playing sword-fight with the little free flags that get passed out. Recently I saw a child scratching at ants and dirt with his little flag while his parents (I assumed) were cheering the Vietnam Vets.

This is from "The Federal Flag Code, Public Law 94-344":

"The flag should not be displayed on a float in a parade except from a staff."

"The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or railroad train or a boat. When the flag is displayed on a motor car, the staff should be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender."

Don't know about decals. All the mega-millions of decal-wielding SUVs and cars has waned since 9-11 but I think those fall under a different catagory anyway as they are selective patriots.

Bushaus, bring and fly our flag... (according to federal rules of course, (because all federal guidlines are strictly adhered to and enforced by the same), always and in all ways) Wink Rolling Eyes Laughing .

That Flag Code thing is a joke I'm afraid, these days. I think it was made back when the chassis of a car was prominent. The last Flag Day parade I was at almost everyone had flags taped to their mirrors, visors (on convertibles), and one old 'Vette had an ratty, dirty, shaggy, Old Glory wadded and draped down the trunk while his Miss Whatever sat on the stars. I say fly your flag on your German car. Cars and America and the 4th of July, yeah! (sorry, England)

Just wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to Suebug & family, Bushaus (Brian) & family, Hot Dog fred & family(s), Ken & son, Martin'e and wife and also to all of you who tried to make it but couldn't ...(next year?). Oh, and My wife & family as well. Thanks for making the breakfast, parade and the event in general really fun.

Hope you all had a great time, and hope to see you all (and more) at the 2010 parade. The DVD's from the TV broadcast will be to me soon, and I'll need a day or so to add the extra footage and photos. I'll get copies out to you soon. Thanks again for making the 4th even more fun than usual!. Cool Cool Cool Dave
