They let us go as the 2nd group of cars (after the custom street rods) but before the Corvettes and the high-zoot Porsches. We got some dirty looks as the (partially) rusty busses were ushered ahead of the fancy-schmancy cars. We put alot of smiles on faces though.
Note for next parade: bring candy to throw and install air horns on bus.
Thanks to Dave24 for setting this up...my family and I had lots of old-school 4th of July fun! _________________ 1967 13 window walkthru bus

Well boys, girls and kiddies... Its that time again. Last years parade was so much fun, that we're doing it again!. Actually, the city has requested that we enter again!. Apparantly, our small entry last year (only 6 of the 13 committed participated) was THE crowd favorite out of appx 150+ entries!. And there were some high $$ car clubs there, with some very nice rides. This year is a little different in that the parade will be held on SAT. 7/3, instead of on sun. 7/4. This should make attending easier, as this leaves the 4th open and clear for family, or other committments/parties/plans.
Also new this year is that we are being sponsored by a local company, The Jewelry Box, who is also the sponsor of getting this parade televised. They will be sponsoring all in attendance with our group/entry at the kiwanis pancake breakfast. Usually $5 per person. I did this last year as well, out-of pocket. All I'm asking is that for each person attending w/us, that you bring one non-perishable food item for donation to the saddleback food bank. This organization feeds 4- 500 struggling families on a weekly basis. Definatly a worthy cause.
Everyone who attended last year will be there this time as well. I truly hope a lot more of you can make it out this year. I entered us for 12-15 buses, and have been ok'd for up to 25!. Prefer pre-67 splits,(any style/model, stock/lowered/custom), but nice early bays are welcomed as well. This is good old fashioned American fun, and our parade definatly has that feel in all ways. Please come join us and celebrate!. Pm me for more details, or if you're local, call me @ 714-612-8782
This promises to be a good time for all involved, so once again, PLEASE join us and show off that bus of yours!!!!.... Thanks in advance, Dave |

Hey, all, Dave24 is still looking for more bus participation! July 3rd, Lake Forest, right near El Toro High School, Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast is 1st, then decorating your buses in the staging area, then we waitwaitwait and answer silly hippie bus questions from the other not-as-bitchen car clubs and spectators nearby then we finally roll and garner more flashing peace signs and doobie smokin' references and cheers from the crowd than you could ever imagine. It is soooooooooooooo fun! I'll be driving the SC this year and if any of you want to throw your redwhiteandblue youngsters in the back I'd gladly parade them. My truck bed is SOLID so nobody will fall through or be speared by rusty metal.
PM Dave24 through here on theSamba to RSVP to say if you'll be there, even if you're still a "maybe". Big windows and bays are welcome! Even chrome! _________________ '67 Beetle
