Getting glass cut for a curved windshield can be a big problem. Here's a link to a video showing one method of cutting down a curved glass windshield.

Any piece of glass that can be made from flat glass is much easier, since you can make a template from 1/4" masonite and send that directly to a place like Sanders Reproduction Glass that can duplicate the shape in laminaed or tempered glass.

Getting a new windshield for a chopped bug with a flat glass windshield would be a lot easier than a curved windshield and probably cost a lot less.

It's also possible to misalign the mounting flange area for a flat glass, during the chop, so a flat glass no longer fits properly.
