managed to get it for £1000, pretty good here for an early big window. Had to weld both outer rockers, fit new brake master and long brake pipe, bleed the brakes up, sort out some of the wiring and put all the doors, glass, back together and most of the interior...then had to do the trans input shaft seal and get rid of the hand painted Razz cream sides, fit the wings/beading etc and wire all the lights up.....nothing better than working on old vw's.

Picked up a decently straight '65 today out of northern nm, been stripped pretty good but luckily I have most of the missing stuff. Nice patina og paint and uncut dash.

Kinda sucks the drivers rear fender is the only non og body part on it. Pretty rough but couldn't let it go to the crushers.

I picked up this Jade Green 1960 OG Beetle a few weeks ago. While it is not mint or completely rust free, it is in remarkable original condition considering that it came to Michigan from Ohio. I think it was well cared for most of it's life. It seems the previous owner was very particular about things. It came with some old VW boxed spare parts, the original continental white walls that the owner kept, and ALL service records back to 1963.

It needs left rear quarter panel rust repair, front clip repair work, a carb and F.P. rebuild and a complete brake run through. It runs, it has 128,000 miles and it is as original and clean as they come around here. A few years ago the fuel tank was removed and "reconditioned" by a radiator shop. I have the receipt. It appears from the receipts that the PO was trying to get it in running condition again.

The previous owner was an old man who purchased it used in 1963. It has been off the road and stored in a garage for the past 25 years. He had made a few slight modifications over the years such as late early tail lights and a newer carpet kit. The dealer option fuel gauge works as does the AM radio. All original glass. Original 36hp, split case trans, all matching numbers. I even have the title from 63 when he purchased it. The local DMV didn't take it for the transfer. Just photocopied it.

I've purchased most of the parts to just get it back on the road. Coker Classics, all new brake lines, cylinders, etc. and some trim bits. I don't plan on touching it too much. I want to leave it as original as possible. It is quite the time capsule. Paint will be touched up in a few places, the front bumper and apron will be straightened. The front seats will be restitched by hand and new WW hair padding will be installed as the fabric is in otherwise beautiful shape. The rear seat and door/quarter cards look almost new. Just a little bit of dirt. I always wanted one of the classics and I'm glad I waited for this one.

I think I understand this thread so here are my finds.
First my 59 Euro ragtop in a pole barn for 29 years. It had the wrong hood which I have already found and have in my possession and the orig snowflake tail lights were behind the back seat. Sweet.

Next I went looking for some engine parts, following a lead I found 6 36 hp engines 3 of which I ended up with. May go back and get the other 3 this weekend.
