My uncle had a 68 and 69 sitting on his farm since the 70's. I decided one day i was going to go get them and possibly part them out.

Got there and they were gone. He let some guy come in with a sawzall and take them to the scrap man just weeks before. Mad

Not a save........but I had good intentions.

Just scored a 1958 from a woman for $500. She bought it a while ago for her boyfriend and he split on her. Title was in her name though so it was perfect!

There is no rust anywhere on pan, heater channels, battery area, body (except for running boards), and is pretty dang straight. Has all glass but need rubbers, and most accessories such as handles, lights, and mirrors. No interior but dash is untouched.

She also gave me 2 engines for it. 1200cc original that looks to have a dead cylinder, but wont know more until I tear into it. Has a extra pair of aftermarket heads for it that look pretty new and in a box.

The dual port 1600cc seems to be rebuilt with new heads. No idea what they did to the insides though. Also has brand new Empi duel 40 carbs that has all the linkage and look as if there hasn't been any fuel ran through them, even has the boxes still. Even got a brand new alternator that hasn't been installed yet.

I'm so excited! I have been looking for about 3 months now for the perfect project VW (first one ever) and I can't wait to tear it down and build it to exactly what I want.

Feel free to call this shop about this somewhat original 67 if you are in the Los Angeles area. The things that are not original are the motor (1600) and the seat covers and door panels. The owner of the shop was a nice guy and said it belongs to his uncle and would let it go for $3500. I was mildly interested in it to replace my other blue 67 as this is an early build but would rather have a sunroof car at this point. It has no accident damage.

Found these 2 '66's when we got lost riding around in the middle of nowhere a few weeks ago. Brought them both home this past weekend ($650 for the pair...white one has a title). The red one has been hit hard in the front (parts only), but the white one will be put back on the road for my wife. She's already been taking the red one apart.

I'll snag some pics in the next couple days, but there's a robin's egg blue 66 or 67 in a Detroit Charity Motors lot that has been sitting there for over a month. I thought for sure it would be gone the day after it showed up, but no one has bid on it and it breaks my heart every time I see it. Aparrently the driver's side door won't close all the way (hinges probably rusted almost solid), and the right front fender has been removed. Motor and tranny still in it judging by the way it sits, and the body looks straight with the normal amount of rust. People go to these auctions to get beaters to drive, so it's not likely anyone has showed up looking for a resto project. Just thought I'd post it here because I don't want to see it get scrapped, and I'll post pics and more info as soon as I get it.

That is great! On my first trip to Missoula (picking up an Allstate Single Wheel 3 years ago) we spotted that little guy in the rain during heavy, muddy highway contruction. The clouds parted just long enough to snap this:

We must have ventured down that scary dirt driveway to exactly the same spot!

Ok, here's those pics I promised. Car is marked as a '66 on the windshield, but I thought '66 taillights were smaller than that. I don't know anything else about the car, just posting because my heart goes out to it and I'd rather it go to a home instead of the crusher. Car was behind a fence, so sorry for the lack of a front shot. Front fender is in the passenger seat, so I'm not sure if someone removed it then decide against taking it or what. Location is Charity Motors, 10431 Grand River Avenue, Detroit, MI 48204.

Oh ya, im positive that its definatly not a 67. Honestly, I am gunna stick with it being a 68, although there is a slight chance it could be a 69.
