I'm basically going off of a split bus thread and it is awesome Very Happy . Thought I would see if you all want to get one started for our bugs (58' to 67'). It's awesome to see all the great bugs still out there in hiding. Cool

The Bus thread, to get the idea:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=164642

Basically it's a running log of any "new" Beetles found in people's yards, junkyards, and so on.

Nice. Please start writing Very Happy And pics would be great.
I don't really even look anymore. The last 2 I bought later got sold, before I even did much to them. Nice finds, but, I can only afford/complete one. And one takes me forever Rolling Eyes

Something about a old vw in a field or a barn is just awesome. Me and my brother used to go bug hunting in nm in the good old days (hell its been 5 years since ive lived in nm). We had some great finds, just north of ruidoso, nm we found 3 old bugs and the owner gave them to us for free and all had titles, a 61' rag, all og but rusty 62', and a 67' sunroof also og but the heater channels where gone. The only one that he still has is the 67' (for the wife). We also found in belen, nm a 60' semaphore bug and picked it up for 250, it was hit in the front pretty bad, but had all og paint and was complete. We had also picked up a 66' that had been pretty thourghly hacked. All these bugs and only the 67' left. My brother left nm for phoenix, and sold all but the 67' while I was deployed in iraq. He basically got out of vw's. Its sad, we now obviosly wish he had not sold them all but he couldn't take them with him and I was in no position to take any, he still has the 67' at a friends in nm, and there really pressuring him to get it moved.

Yeah I got a great deal. The only reason I got most of the extra parts in the boxes is because when he showed me the car before I bought it there was a pair of taillights in the back. When we got the car home I was looking thru it and didn't see the lights, so when we went back to get the other body I asked about the lights and he said he put them in a box. And just kept bringing more and more boxes out of the garage. I even got the steering column, steering wheel and a good horn ring for the '61. I want to build a baja out of the '71 body and either sell the '61 or keep it for a project someday. It is rustier than it looks but in better shape than a Minnesota car

Another one our club president picked up. I guess he was actually supposed to get this car like 10 years ago, and lost track of it.

Wow has no one been finding 58-67 bugs lately, not a post for almost 6 months. Come on guys lets post them up. I am now part of an aircooled club here in j-ville, so we should have more hunting stories soon.
