I ran into a fellow today at work who said he had a bug in his yard, and it had been sitting for a few years. We struck a quick deal and now I have this project!
It had been about a year since I sold my old bug and I sure missed it.

This bug has been resting on cinder-blocks since 1985
Time she gets some fresh air.

In the willywags of Maine in northern Penobscot County. Out looking for a place to hunt, ran across this pair of forlorn Beetles by an old sugar shack. I'm not completely up to speed with the subtle nuances to tell Beetle years apart, but the 1300 on the deck lid is one year only, right?

Well, I'm not new to Vw's, but I haven't owned a beetle in years. My last was a 65 vert, and lately I've been really big with Type3's. But the other day I drove past a wrecking yard/tow company and saw this poor little car just looking very sad. It took about two weeks before I stopped and made a deal for the car, which was fortunate because it was just a few days from going to a crusher. It has no motor, but most of it is original, save for the front apron and fenders. I'm guessing it was in a front end collision. The windshield is destroyed, but there's very little other rust. So for 500 I trailered her home. My girls named her Opal, and it came with the original Utah title. It's a 67, and my students are going to love fixing her up.
More to come on this project later. _________________ It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

Isn't it crazy to think half your car's entire value is on and under the dash? I would have bought it just for those fixins'. Well done. _________________

If you found a $500 beetle in Florida, you wouldn't be driving it..
It would be in pieces... |

What do you guys think this body is worth? It looks pretty good from what I can tell.. Its sitting on a later bug pan, and missing the fenders..

How much rust is there? The decklid looks wrong too, but it's got to be worth something if it's a clean oval shell. _________________ 36hp '56 European DeLuxe oval, '70 bug 1835cc dual 36DRLA, and a '98 4x4 5spd single cab Tacoma |

There seems to be some serious vw hoarding action going on in that yard - wish it was mine! |

Hello all! Been quite a while since I posted. Picked up a 67 beetle yesterday and brought her home. Very solid, but has some heavy dents unfortunately. Have some massive cleaning ahead of me, fortunately the mice never made their way into the interior! I wanted something I could put on the road when I take my 66 down for upgrades and repairs. Wish me luck!

The roof will be tough, but doable. Found another 67 hood the same color from a friend. Going to preserve as best as I can.
The junk in the trunk is squirrel nest, mouse nest or both. Fortunately they never got inside the car! _________________ Greg

Well done with saving it - every one saved is a bonus as so many have gone.
Could be a candidate for a rag-top conversion if you ever found a suitable car that wasn't saveable and fancied the challenge?
I always find it interesting that in America the wildlife seem to claim cars back quickly! I bought a bug without a floorpan and apart from spiders and the odd bit of mouse action there wasn't anything too bad going on. |

Was able to save this 1 owner 1960 indigo blue bug the other day. Super original and very little rust, she has sat in a airplane hanger for the last 40 years. The drivers front fender clipped a deer back in the 60s and was replaced so I'll need to start the hunt for a original paint drivers fender. Other than that the front seats were redone at some point which I'll end up having redone in cloth to match the rear seat. Should be a fun project.
