|
|
I hope someone can help me determine what year VW Beetle I have. I just bought what is suppose to be a 1958 VW Beetle with the vin # 1647973. I just had a guy looking at my bug and he didn't know if maybe I have a European model 58 or a US model. He said there was a metal tube or something like that that went from the headlights to the body of the bug and mine did not have that. It had a plug there instead. SO is there any thing to look at to identify which year and model I have?? An help will be appreciated. |

a 58 euro would have semaphores. I have a 59 Euro and it has semaphores, and a small big window, not an oval |

My US 58 has the tubes for the headlight wires. Have any photos of your bug you can post? |

It all depends on whats been changed over the years.
The tubes for the headlights would have been on us and euro. If there not there that just means someone changed the front fenders. Those tubes bolted to the front quarter panel. You souled still have the 2 holes around the hole your headlight wiring comes out, unless the car has been clipped.
The semaphores are a dead giveaway that its euro. I don't think the US models ever had them. However, the euro models may have had fender mounted blinkers as well.
You could get a birth certificate I think that tells you. |
