Ah yes Da TOW'D, a 1936. I wasn't totally sure on the year.....it may have also been a Toyoda with a "d"? I believe Toyota hadn't started spelling their name with a T until later. Not totally sure about that either lol! |

I had to look it up- as I always thought it was the result of simple(r) pronunciation (more logical to their importing countries) as so often happened with foreign brands. But that's only half of it! Very neat to learn another reason why, and not at all surprising with Japanese efficiency... _________________

That is exactly why I asked. Most US cars from that era were essentially unchanged from 42 to 46. Didn't know if Packard, or any other makes for that matter, were any different. |
It gave Packard time to improve the Rolls Royce Merlin and mass produce it...

I got to see one of these up close at the WWII museum in New Orleans back in November. Quite impressive. _________________ nothing |

Hearing about 15 of them fire up and taxi while standing on the ramp is to die for. They were followed by the 29 and about a dozen 17's and 25's. |

It helps add to the mystery if one changes the name of the picture to something other than what it is.

1951 Packard 300.
Someone buy it please so I can stick to my plan to put a sedan in my life with an E38 7-Seires BMW:
The area code you want to use with that number is 707. _________________ 2000 M Roadster

I'd buy a '52- because by then the Ultramatic was proven to be a reliable transmission. _________________

Sunbeam Harrington LeMans GT- circa '62.
Now if THAT car is for sale- and this thread is being used for free non-VW advertisement- I'm interested. _________________

I'm surprised that after 16 hours no one has weighed in with a guess. It bares resemblance to a Morris Minor but after looking at these pics ---> https://www.google.com/search?q=Morris+Minor+wagon...NT8TPc6BM:
I don't see similar taillights or rear fenders on a Morris. |

When I first saw it I thought of a DKW/Auto Union Schnellaster, but that wasn't it. _________________ nothing |
