1903 to be exact for the original, can you imagine going 77 mph in that? |

This showed up at our latest (Las Vegas Region SCCA) Autocross. It's not an original, but a very high-end repro. I didn't know what it was until someone 'splained it to me. Driven by a quite famous dude in racing circles. He didn't race, but just watched. I'll let you know what and who, if no one guesses it.

It looks loosely based off of a 1965ish Ferrari, those wheels look like shit on it. Original Borrani's make that car. Factory Five kit maybe? If so, I guess it's based on the Cobra Daytona Coupe. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

ding ding ding - we have a winner: It's not a Facroy Five, though. It's his own replica.
It looked pretty sweet in person, wheels and all. It belongs to Pete Brock.
Here's a youtube of him talking about the original, and driving the same repro you see in the picture above.

Brock was at Carlisle several years ago talking design. IIRC that car did start as a Factory Five Daytona, he just modified it to suit him. |

When I first saw it reminded me of a car one of my past bosses had, a 1967 Toyota 2000GT, although headlight configuration is different the body lines have that flow. |

This one is for sale. There is a tenuous connection between the manufacturer and Warren Buffett.

You got it -- including the Buffett connection.
The car in the photo was for sale this past weekend at the Mecum auction in Denver. The reserve might not have been met.

I spotted this 1960 Skoda at a Cruise Night this week. The owner imported it from Hungary, it was his car there:

Wow, that little Skoda is just delightful, and well presented. I can't imagine the effort to find parts for it. Thank you for posting the pictures. _________________ Jack Staggs

My wife is driving a rental Skoda around Ireland right now. Not anywhere near as cool as that one, to be sure. _________________ nothing |

To complete the info, it's a Škoda Felicia, the convertible version of the then manufactured Škoda Octavia. It's from a time when eastern cars were still comparable with their western counterparts. _________________ cars:

They still are.....again. The 2nd generation Skoda Octavia was actually a re-skinned VW Passat and was not a sleezy car. The third generation....ccurrent....is based on the the Golf Mk7/Audi A3. Far better than anything made by GM.

Certainly here in Europe, before Skoda became part of the VAG group, the name was a by-word for rust and poor reliability. Jokes like: I have a Skoda 16 valve, 8 in the engine, 8 in the radio. etc etc. _________________ John.

This car probably won't be too hard for someone to correctly identify even though only a few these ended up in the hands of the public.
