This week was move in time for my new shop. It's located in Natick, MA just West of Boston. After editing Bentley VW and Audi service manuals for nearly 14 years, I now get to put them to good use. I think my friend Boston Bob would be happy to see how things have transpired since his passing last year. The Boston Engine legacy is now continuing through Suburban Engine and Stan's Classic Service.

My '61 Mango loaded with parts, looking through the double doors of my '65 panel.

The panel was a workhorse during the move.

Shop fits two buses with no problem.

The main wall could use some cool automotive signs. Boston Bob can be seen in the picture behind the cut-away motor.

Here's a great shot of the cut-away motor. It's already generated some interest from other car nuts and shop neighbors.

We even have Saturday morning hours to facilitate drop off and pick up for customers. This Vanagon owner rode her bike home after drop off.

Another customer drove up from New Jersey this morning to pick up his nice rebuilt 1600cc single port longblock (H-block as requested) for future installation in a '66 deluxe bus. His gf enjoyed some time at the fancy nearby Natick mall while he came over to shop.

We are now taking appointments for air and water-cooled VW service work.

Looks great, best of luck. Thanks again for your communications during a tough time last fall. I will keep you in mind for any future engine work.

Congratulations Stan! Some of the veteran LEAKOILER'S here in Ohio apparently know you from year's past and speak very highly of you. I didn't know Boston Bob, but all of us were aware of his personal commitment to quality VW work. It's great your willing to continue that mission. Check in with us sometime at http://www.leakoil.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

When's the grand opening BBQ?
And how much beer should I bring?

I'd drive to your shop in a heartbeat if I wasn't here on the West Coast. From our business dealings and reading your posts, I know you're an upfront VW guy. Congrats on the new endeavor, Stan.

WoooooHooooo! Way to go Stan! Now when is your first branch location going to open up here in St. Louis, MO? I'd be your first customer here!

The best of luck and lots of fun to you too! Bob "IS" proud of you!

Took in the first two customer cars this weekend, and also had a longblock pickup at the shop.

Dale's original owner '72 Super Beetle got noticed by the landlord and a fellow sambanista who came down to pick up a vert door. Tom spent plenty of time admiring the originality of this car and took some reference pix of the engine for his own '72 SB vert project.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Cathy's '91 Westy also got some attention from me today scoping out some front end issues.

Sat. May 16th is a coffee and donuts stop at the shop as part of the BSVWOC spring cruise, so that's probably the "grand" opening. I know this conflicts with CTS though:(

I joined the regular Friday evening liquid "venting" session with neighboring body shop techs and my shop-mate at the end of last week. Supposedly they also do some Friday BBQs once the weather gets a little warmer. Should be fun.
