My 1915 will have a 181 shroud and a heaterless header. What are you guys doing for rear tin and pulley tin? The Scat pieces? Patching the original stuff?

Good question, I'm interested in what has been done as well. Also what's being done to block off the heater ports from the engine comp/back seat.

Use the stock tin behind the pulley. CB makes a Cal-Look solid rear tin.

So the heater tube holes in the stock pulley tin won't detract from cooling?

I still use the stock rear tin, with Salsa lids plugging the three heater hose holes Wink

Will that piece from CB actually bolt up to the stock pulley tin? Can I put the pulley nut cover piece on? I'd like to avoid using plugs because the tin will be red. Unless I find red plugs.

I've got a Brazilian piece of tin that's the same as the CB... no fresh air or hear risers. It took some minor "adjusting" but it fits.

Thanks, Glenn. I think that was the one I asked you about last year. Are you using an original pulley piece too? Does "adjusting" mean a little trim or all-out hacking?

I couldn't even come close to getting this piece: http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC%2DC10%2D6217 to fit with the OEM pulley tin. The screws are in different positions. Any ideas?

I ended up using the CB version.

http://cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=273

The screw holes were mighty close. I did have to lightly shave the areas where the piece butts up against the cylinder covers. It wasn't much at all, and fits excellent now.

The CB pulley tin, however, WAS completely useless. Flimsy, holes didn't line up, didn't fit snug on the engine. It's still lying around in the shop.

I notice a few subtleties in the link you posted vs. the CB link. I think the one I got was a Scat piece. It was made in Taiwan. Can't help you much further than that.

I've used the CB tin on a few motors. Both the smooth piece (no holes) like Glenn has and the piece with holes for heater hoses but no heat risers.
I can pretty much echo what everyone else is saying: It fits nice with some minor massaging, mostly just elongating the holes for the screws. I did have one that had an odd triangular shaped piece of metal welded to one side....maybe for a F.I. engine bay?? I just trimmed it off and it fit fine. Pretty decent quality and it really helps clean up the look of a non-stock engine.
Here's a pic of the fully smooth piece and the piece sans-heat riser holes.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I have no problem with doing a little trim for a better fit. The issue I have ran across is that the aftermarket rear tin doesn't even come close to lining up or fitting the OEM pulley tin.

That's the chance we take with aftermarket. I would have run away the minute I saw Empi on it. The Scat piece will come closer.

The piece I really wanted to be able to use is the pulley cover. Doesn't fit, unless I got a 40hp version instead of a 1600 version.

I just don't run the rear tin.

It looks like a 40hp Stale Air, non-Dog House.

Thing tin is OEM so cylinder tins fits.

It is in fact a Thing and OEM cylinder tins. Doghouse is on the back, and you don't want to know how much I paid for it...

Just scored an extra clean unit a few weeks ago here on the Samba after watching for a deal for quite a while. Hell, it's only money.... Laughing
