Actually riding a bike on snowy or icy roads was a blast. The challenge was to pull a 1 1/2 donut or two-zer. When actually trying to get somewhere steering didn't seem to be an issue it was braking that was a challenge often aided by a foot on the ground.
Anyone remember skitching?
Tried to find an image of someone doing it (me) with out success. plenty of people on a skateboard or roller skates. That's not what skitching was originally. |
I ride in the snow, but I have studded tires on a 1950-ish Columbia I pulled form a snowbank in Eastern Montana. Makes for a fun, slow cruise on snowy roads. Also rode many MTB miles with tire chains in the past. Fun stuff.
Never heard of skitching, we called it hookie-bobbin'. UPS and Schwann's trucks were the best candidates.

Maybe Colorado instead of Utah, the sticker on the front bumper appears to read Royal Gorge.
Verified the picture is in Colorado -- that's the east face of Pikes Peak in the background, so the picture was most likely taken from Colorado Springs.
