Please excuse me if I'm making more of this than it deserves, but isn't this thread under Reader Rides? Doesn't that mean the cars belong to the members?
I ask only because I have started to see more pictures posted here and in other threads simultaneously, such as the split and oval historic or 'period' picture threads.

This thread is a dumping ground for Vintage VW photos of any type, not just cars that were owned by members.
You are correct that sometimes pics get cross-posted since there are some dedicated threads in the Oval-Window and other sections for cars of those type only.
Reader's Rides in general has a lot of "bulk photo" threads that are not necessarily cars owned by members

Too bad the bear's head is not in this shot.
There's a twin of that bear on the southern end of the Munich to Berlin Autobahn A9 just north of the A9's end in the northern part of Munich. Right in the narrow median of the north and south roadways. I always tried to catch a shot of it when I was in Munich on business in the last 25 yrs.

It was supposed to be, but they didn't find out they cut it's head off until a week+ after they got back from the trip and had the photos developed. In fact many of the photos from that trip had missing heads or a finger in the shot, others were over/under exposed and some were fuzzy.
One gets spoiled by digital cameras today, back then you were lucky the film was even picked up by the rolls in the camera and you didn't waste 24 or more shots before you discovered it just kept winding past where the roll was supposed to end.
