I was distracted by all 4 Japanese makers "sports" models in one pic, and how tiny the B-210 looks in front of the Chev truck, and how big the bug looks compared to the Civic behind it and Camaro in front, lots going on there. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

That Chevy truck is doing a very good job of disguising itself as an Econoline van.
Excluding the Cadillac and station wagons, it looks like every other car in the picture is a 2-door. _________________ Scott

I don't know but that's what it looks like to me. |
Considering the amount of damage to the two cars, the damage to the bus looks light by comparison, especially the front end/bumper of the bus.
It almost looks as if the bus dropped from the sky onto the cars. The front of the bus certainly didn't do all that damage to the Pontiac.
My guess at what happened: ... the bus was far enough back from the Pontiac that when that American iron rear-ended it, it hit hard enough to lift the front of the bus so that the bumper cleared the Pontiac for the most part, and the bus undercarriage did most of the damage. _________________ Scott

This makes sense to me. Bus got thrown up onto the front car.
I think it's possible the American rear car actually slammed into the American front car too. The Bus might have been thrown up, then rolled back down into the gap after the rear car slammed into the trunk of the front one. _________________ How to Post Photos

Detroit in the 70s. I imagine that VWs and other imports were pretty rare in the heart of the American auto industry.
