I followed up on a lead (posted several weeks ago in the bus hunting thread) and found this bus. Last week I went crazy with the sawzall and angle grinder.

Started by unbolting anything worth unbolting. Then I cut the rear torsion housing out, and both side panels with good wheel wells and vent section. I also cut out some donor flat metal from the area above the rear wheels to use for fixing panel doors with camper windows.

I cut off the roof and cut the center out of it. The gutters and about 6" above them will be used by my neighbor for his 64 doubledoor panel with terminal gutter rot.

I also removed the tray above the engine compartment for someone to use as a repair for a hippy hole. I scrounged just about anything possible from this bus. The guy was just going to haul the whole thing to the scrap yard anyway. Now I can trip over it in my yard instead.

Loaded all this on the trailer by myself. I had to self-medicate with heavy doses of beer that night, but it was worth it.

Lonely looking pile, isn't it?

This is Jack. My arm hurts just looking at this pic. I had to keep throwing the stick for him or he would be constantly under my feet dropping the stick on my toes. Nice, dumb, dog.

Hope that was not a waste of 60 seconds of your life reading it.

Nice, did you manage to save that Riviera tent rail? I'm sure someone is looking for it.

Nice looking dog too.

Yes, the tent rail is in the pile. I even saved the screws for some reason.

It was parted out like you can't imagine. You did look at the pictures, right? I have the wheel wells but they are cut in a way that includes the panel above them up to the belt line and the entire vent section. Not sure what that would take to ship.

There was a little partying going on later, self medication for an aching back. Wink

I think we got mixed up in semantics. It was definitely parted out. But I would call it that whether I was keeping the parts or not.

I am keeping a few parts, but most will be sold. I would rather not cut up the wheel well sections, but if you just need the lower part, I think they are available new, right? As I recall they are not that expensive. Worth looking into anyway.

Good job!!!! Razz Razz Razz Razz Applause Applause Applause

(Did you get the "K" bolts that hold the clips for the metal brake lines under the bus? They are the same as the side bolts to hold the splash pan under the pedals in the front of the bus.)

Some of them are still on the frame sections that were removed from the carcass. I did not know they were significant, though. Does "K" refer to the marking on the bolt head?

Here's the wheel wells. Good price, almost not worth cutting out originals unless they are complete junk.

EDIT: I just realized they are out of stock.
