no jack bags for cars later then 53 as the jack now gets fastened in the spare wheel area, so there is no need to put it in a bag, splitwindows still has a green canvas or interior fabric made bag (mine has😜) |

Mine is green canvas.
Its quite dirty. 😀
It does have a roung hubcap puller. I believe it's original to the car.
I dont believe they began to be included In the tool roles until 1960. I think earlier?
Was a bag for the jack standard on any vehicles ? Ive never seen one in person, that I remember anyway. |
Thanks I have send you a PM ! |

My best guesses are below.
All of them are Bug or Bus
1. Post the size on the wrench, I think it's 10/13?
2. Post the sizes on the wrench, I think it's 8/10?
If that is true, 1 & 2 are from the late 1950s onward.
I'm not sure when the switch was made from including one wrench to the other one but you could look at the owner's manuals on the site and see when this change was made.
3. Any tool kit that had a set of pliers (most of them)
4/5/6. Wood screw drivers with solid handles were used through 1963
5 & 6 I am not sure are original Vw though - the crimping on the handle should look like #5
7. This is a '64 reversible wood screwdriver
8. I'm not sure, late 1960s?
9. This is early because of the clips, maybe mid-late 1950s?
10. Same as #9 but a little bit later, late-1950s/early 1960s? _________________ How to Post Photos

Here's from another thread, I can link it if you want.

basic size 13" x 8.75"
the lengthwise folds are 2.75"
the width is hemmed .375"
so the overall size of the piece is 18.5' x 9.5"
the tie straps are 11.25" x 1"
the pockets are 3" 5" 6.75" (all measued from the edge which has the tie straps)
the tool roll that I measured is the one in the lower right of my picture above. it is an early to mid '60s roll that was made out of vinyl sunroof material which was used through '67.
hope that helps. |

Hello,
I have a few questions about the toolkit:
1. Being French, I'm not sure I understand everything about the sizes for the toolkits you shared with me. Could you please tell me if I understood correctly:

2. I bought some tools, I would like to know if those are the right ones for my 1957 oval. (I think the screwdrivers are not the right ones. Have you ever seen them?)
3. I saw that the tool kits were the same color as the seats. My seats are in red TMI. What color were the tool kits for these seats?
Thank you for your help ! _________________ https://www.facebook.com/AltonPhotographie/ |

Sorry for such a late response everything looks good except the pockets. the measurements are the marks were the ends. so from the edge with the strap you'd go up 3" mark a seam, up 2 more inches from there and mark a seam, and then another 1.75 inches from there and mark a seam.
Tool kits weren't really matched, just scraps of upholstery they made the kits out of. I think you can buy a yard of the fabric from tmi if you want a match. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Just be warned- TMI charges a shitload for their material, $51.99/yd. Mario's very helpful and responds quickly, but I asked about getting enough material to make a couple of rear seat pillows and was amazed at the price they charged.
He did advise that a dealer could get cheaper pricing.
I found a very similar vinyl at a huge Portland fabric store that has an automotive selection. Much cheaper. _________________ Plate of shrimp |

Hi guys, currently I got my own reproduction tool bags made from a local shoemaker.
It is a copy of the original bag with almost original pattern.
The sewing maschine is almost 100 years old...

I will do my best.
There are a couple threads linked in the first post of this thread that may have more information.
1 - Bus tool bag, 59-64 or so. Typically for a commercial vehicle since it's gray
2 - Later tool bag, 68-?
3 - Tool kit wrench, not sure of exact years used.
4 - Tool kit wrench, not sure of exact years used but 8/13 is a common wrench seen in many tool kits
5 - Tool kit wrench, not sure of exact years used but 10/13 is a common wrench seen in many tool kits
6 - Reversible screw driver is 64-up
7 - Wood screwdrivers (one small, one large) are 63-down
8 - Wood screwdrivers (one small, one large) are 63-down
9 - Wood screwdrivers (one small, one large) are 63-down
10 - Hubcap remove clip, I think that style is 66-up?
11 - Tommy bar, years and model depend on length
12 - Hammer, I think this is Porsche 356? Not sure if that's the correct one though
13 - Pliers, used in all(?) tool kits
14 - I don't recognize this piece as VW
15 - Lug nut / spark plug tool, not sure of exact years
16 - Lug nut / spark plug tool, 1960s, not sure of exact year range
17 - Lug nut / spark plug tool, 1960s, not sure of exact year range
18 - Spark plug tool? I don't recognize this myself
A lot of the tools can be seen and are listed in the VW Owner's Manuals on the site but obviously it would be a large task to look through them all and compile an overall listing by year and model _________________ How to Post Photos

What brand of pliers would have been used in a 71 bug kit. How long were they? _________________ 1971 1302LS Convertible (RHD) owned since '74
