I have a beautiful 64 Ghia Convertible I am going to sell. I've been looking for comps for a while now on Ebay, Samba, Craigslist, BAT etc. Problem is it is very rarely that I find one for sale, sometimes I cant find one at all. Can anyone explain?

Well, according to this Production Figures Chart found under The Samba Technical Tab, Volkswagen and Karmann only made a mere 5,260 Karmann Ghia Cabriolets back in the 1964 model year (as opposed to some 25,266 Karmann Ghia Coupes that same model year).
Those 5,260 Karmann Ghia Cabriolets were then spread over all the countries in the world in which they were sold.
Even with the North American market likely taking the lion's share of them, that wasn't very many to begin with.
Fast forward some 40+ years later and it's been estimated that the toll taken on them by corrosion and accidents has reduced their number to a mere 10 percent of the total originally sold.
There is conjecture that a higher percentage of Cabriolets has survived because they were often purchased with the express intent to be used only for pleasure driving in dry warm weather, but who really knows for certain. |

It's a nice looking vert, considering it's not original, model year won't have as much emphasis on value. For the purposes of determining a ballpark, you could look at all verts 60-66. |
