It's always best to keep relays inside out of the weather unless you run epoxy sealed relays. This kit has OEM style locking relay bases that mount directly to the 86-91 Vanagon fuse block. https://sites.google.com/site/vanagonheadlightrelays/headlight-relays/86to91 _________________ Jay Brown

I agree with you about weather exposure. My goal was to have the shortest current path to the headlights and that's why I didn't want to run them through the factory fuse maze. I could have had them just inside, but frankly having them behind the headlights made it a lot easier to have short wires to crimp and fasten. Another alternative would be to do what I did but put them in a water tight exterior electrical box and seal the wire entrances and exits with underwater epoxy. I know it is a swamp mechanic's solution, but I honestly haven't had any failures and if I do, the spare relays can be slapped in with ease. |
