After a year of messing with these kadrons...I can't figure it out. I have kadrons with a pertonix ignitor, 009, electric fuel pump with a regulator, 1776cc engine. What is happening is that I will run the car down the road for about 10 minutes and it runs fine...after that it will start to die. I have to "feather" the gas pedal to barely keep it running and it will backfire through the exhaust. If it starts to die and I keep my foot on the pedal consistently....it sounds like it runs on 2 cylinders, backfire through the exhaust, barely run.
I have had the carburetors rebuilt and this engine is brand new with less that 1000 miles on it. I adjusted the valves and the timing is dead on. The distributor advances just like it should. I have the fuel filter underneath by the transmission. It runs at good temperature and not overheating. I am at a loss and have attributed the problem to fuel delivery....help please! _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.

When this happens, get out and put your hand on the distributor body. If it's hot, your pertronix may be acting up. They don't like heat. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

I will try that....funny thing is when it starts to die and you feather the pedal and it "catches up"....it runs fine with your foot on the pedal. let your foot off and have to start the process all over again. _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.

Check out the lowbudget.com website (AJ Sims). MrKadron can help you out.
Also, those kadrons like low fuel pressure (1-2lbs) and do not like the 009 dizzy very well. They are disigned to be ran wih the vacuum advance.
It sounds like you are starving the carb. I would check your regulator out. Those off the shelf one plu up now & then. Un hook it and see if the problem goes away.
Check out the site and you will get some education on them. |

I will try disconnect the regulator and see what happens. I have lived at lowbugget.com and tried everything. _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.

I don't really have any advice but want to thank you for including everything that is relevant in your original post. Sort of rare these days. |

Carcrazed, are you running chokes on your carbs?
Also, is there a chance that your mixture jet is too lean?
I'm running Kad's on two of my car now and know that they can be sensitive. I would suggest opening the jet more to see if it helps too, just for trouble shooting. |

I went back to the stock set-up and it didn't seem to help. I had A.J. Sims make jets for my Kadrons and it didn't help the problem. I am going to bypass the regulator this weekend and see if that cures the problem. I am still running a smaller than stock idle jet. I will also replace those back to stock. It seems to me that it is starving for fuel. Do you think it could be my electric fuel pump? _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.

sorry....I am NOT running chokes. It is very touchy when it is cold, but once it warms up.....it runs fine. After about 10 minutes of running down the road, it throws a fit. It is like something FINALLY gets completely heated up and starts to shut down?????!!!!! As far as including all information...Thanks for the compliment!!! I try. _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.
