So, I was looking for some fiber washers in the OG size for my Safari Windows. Thought I had found some from a popular supplier. Unfortunately they are not the correct OD. Then while pawing through a bag with parts from some dismantled door windows, I found the Holy Grail. There are two fiber washers that are used on either end of the spring for the shaft of the vent window frame. They are the perfect size and material. Not like the fake plastic ones or the bargain replacements I bought. Am I correct in thinking that these are the same parts that VW used for the Safari sliders? The information in my parts books is inconclusive. They don't show the washers on the vent frame shaft, but I know they were used because I got them off of OG windows.
And on another note, is there anywhere else on a bus that the beveled washers for the sliders were used?

Yes, they are the same.

Yes, the washer underneath the nut that holds down the battery strap is the same. Unfortunately those are only one per bus and are more often than not missing or changed out.

For years I've been looking for those washers but not for safaris since I don't have those yet. After seeing your brilliant discovery I went out to my pile and found two perfect ones. Are they the correct ones for the top of the mirror arm at the hinge, if you don't mind me asking in your thread? They sure look the same.

Barry-I can't find a washer listed for door mirror post bases. Of course, that doesn't mean they weren't used. Perhaps Clara can weigh in on this?

211 837 659 fiber washer
you will find them on;
-safari windows wing nuts-8 (2 per wing nut)
-vent window post-4 (2 per vent wing)
-mirror arm post-hinge-4 (2 per arm)
-over head vent directional knob-1
if you still cant find some or want some new ones, I had those made in fiber board to use on safaris, as well as the other locations

Thanks, David. I looked back at my books and noticed that everywhere EXCEPT Safaris, they are refered to as "fixing plates". On the Safaris they are callled "friction washers", but the PN is the same. Come on VW, get your stuff together! Rolling Eyes
