So...I installed my multi piece headliner from WW. After reading all the warnings here about how hard of a job it is, I prepared myself for a nightmare, but to my surprise, it was much easier that I expected.
It IS a time consuming process, but by no means is it hard.
I realize this isn't "stock", but I just didn't like the plain looking folded end. Thought this add a nice touch.

That's the same one I'm oredering. Would you say that the pics wash out the color and make it look whiter? I was hoping for a darker grey. |

Your exactly right! Ive done all my cars. People make such a BIG deal about it. With the price of a install you could buy three kits and f two of them up and still be money ahead. |

It is a big deal. I'm not seeing padding left out, cutting mistakes and wrinkles everywhere. This headliner took time and patience. It was done with care and planning and it shows. Great Job.
This one is a big "cut" above the average. |

The pics are pretty close. if anything I'd say they make it look a bit darker than what it really is but not much. It is a light Grey.
I have plenty of scrap material left. If you PM your mailing address I'd be happy to send you a chunk. _________________ 1960 Sedan. L349 Jade Green. |

That looks very nice, definitely puts mine to shame. I often see wrinkles, especially towards the back, but yours looks very clean. |

I was just satisfied when I saw what a beautiful job you did. But, now you report that you have material LEFT OVER!
Didn't I read about you in the Bible? _________________

Nice job. It is worth the effort to do it yourself. Yours came out better than mine did. I wish I would have done the cloth one. |

LOL...the scrap pieces are from trimming the extra material. Fortunately when they make the headliner pieces they make sure their plenty big enough. _________________ 1960 Sedan. L349 Jade Green. |

You hit it right on the head with that statement.
Fit it, clip it, wedge it, or tape it in place as much as you can and carefully snip corners as you go BEFORE gluing. I used these instructions http://www.thebugshop.org/bsp57_13.htm as a guideline only. There were a couple steps that I found easier to do a different way, but for the most part it was a great help. And that 3M 90 spray adhesive not only has an adjustable tit to change the pattern direction, it also has a low, medium, and high spray volume setting by rotating the spray nozzle. _________________ 1960 Sedan. I used John's guidlines too. You are truely on your own, instructions or not, when you are actually doing it. The payoff of time spent will be everytime someone looks in your car and says "Wow" |

Finished my headliner tonight. Few wrinkles, but much more attractive than the solid vinyl thing that was in the car when i bought it. This one also came from Wolfsburg West. No questioning the quality of these headliners. Top of the line stuff.

Hi,
You should be proud of yourselves! I agree, it is not hard, but time consuming and, at times, frustrating!
I also followed thebugshop pages and really took my time in lining up all the pieces, cliping, un-cliping, moving, cliping etc before applying glue.
I'm pretty ok with mine, apart from a few nicks and the centerpiece (mine is a 62 ragtop) that is surely not wide enough and it leaves a thin gap at both ends...
I went with grey cloth from WW and the quality as such is good, especially since you are (and need to!) center the pieces a few good times back and forth, heck I even had to "tear" my centerpiece of the ragtop bars even after glueing to align it once more, and the fabric held up to that.
So, time, patience and cleanliness is needed, badly!
Well done!
cheers, |
