alright, well I just got a set of never used DCNF 40's...NOS??
I am wondering if these carbs will support a 120-130 horsepower 2007cc engine? I was told I could get the vent's up to 37mm from the 32 mm stock. Is this feasible? and would it allow the carbs to feed the engine enough?
I am not stuck on using these carbs, but I love the way they look as opposed to some IDF's
Also, through research I have read that these carbs have issues with fuel starvation under hard cornering? These will be used a vintage road race car that will be going around corners as hard as it can. Am I just asking for performance issues?

I don't know for sure how big you can go with vents, however I can tell you that the vents are compatible with those in the 42mm DCNFs, so that will give you a little idea how big you can go as you can go at least as big as the vents in those do.
I just wish my pair of 40's were anywhere near that clean, nice find.

Edit: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-131462.html I did a little searching, in that thread, I found a guy running 36mm vents on a set of 42 DCNFs, so those should drop right in if you can find yourself a set of them. |

Hi Sled,
I have a set of the 42dcnf's and they do not do very well on tight, long corners. Other than that I love em. |

There was a good reason Weber disconntuined the DCNF's and centered the floatbowl on the IDF's!! Get some 44IDF's and have fun _________________ 'Black Ice'Drag Buggy 'Turbo'

ok, so does anyone know if there are any modifications that can be made to help with the 'fuel slosh' in corners?
also, any opinions on if these carbs will support the power I am looking for?
I dont want to have to fall back on some IDF's if I dont have to. _________________ drive your split. |

DCNF's rock. I've had 40's and 42's. Some like them some hate them, can't do no autocrossing with them but they'll support your 2 litre fine, I had 36 Dells on my 2017 and it ran 14's in the 1/4 with full weight sedan go for it and nice find! Throw a post over at www.cal-look.com lot of people still run them |

I have Mark Harney refurbished 42 DCNF's on my 2110 and they run just fine. No hesitation, no popping or stumbling whatsoever and they pull hard. I can tell you that that the larger vents are tough to find and kind of expensive. Good luck. _________________ 1967 Bug (Second owner) |

cool, thanks for the replies.
so, it sounds like the biggest issue is the lack of hard cornering ability. This car will be thrown around corners with near reckless abandon, SO...I might end up havnig to choose a different carb Unless anyone knows any tips/tricks to get them to hold fuel delivery
as far as the vents, is it possible to take the stock 32's and machine them out to 36 or so? then contour the leading edge? _________________ drive your split. |

If you're good with a steel lathe(or know someone that is) then it shouldn't be a problem. |

Just remember getting them all the same is more important than getting the maximum size out of them so take it easy. |

thanks for the tips. It sounds like I will keep them, but I am still worried about the fuel slosh aspect of them
anyone ever heard of float bowl modifications? _________________ drive your split. |
