Well here is my new project. This is going to be the wife's ride... I am sure I can steal it when she is not looking. Just got it home this week and will be getting started on it right away. The VIN starts with 478XXX which puts it at May of 1959. The bus is a lot better in person than what the pictures may show. I have a good dash section coming and should be here on Monday. I am also working on getting some good used vents and some window sections to repair some of the pitting along the side windows. The rear corners are savable but it needs new front doors and cargo doors and bottom sheet metal. Here are some pictures and will post as progress continues on the new ride.
I almost forgot. I got busted last time I didn't give thanks. Thanks Wes for all the leg work and getting it home safe.
More pictures here.

Holy shit that is some resurrection project!
If legit though, that is a monster bus.

I told you guys it looked scary. It has a good base to start with. It needs a lot but when it is finished, what a cool ride it would be. I am going through all the hoops to make sure I can get a title for it. I sent off to get the birth certificate from the museum to make sure the stamped VIN that is in the engine compartment matches the bus. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I would really hate to see this thing not make it back onto the road. _________________

Hi Mickey, I was that weird tired lady there that night too (Meredith).
I was there for the 40 hours straight of road time it took to get the buses back and delivered.
Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, and to-your-door delivery in good ol' Arizona.
Enjoy this one, Mickey. Many death and depth defying stunts had to occur to get this one into your garage!
Ah, VW adventures.
Now only if I could get Wes to get this damned cut-up 15 window bus out of my back yard! _________________

I am super happy that this bus is going to be restored. It is going to be a lot of work but it will definitely be worth it when finished.
Sold the nose clip Meredith. _________________ Getting back in the game |

Very cool new ride! Are going to restore it or ride it like it is and just make it drivable? It has a nice patina. _________________ http://ghostwagens.blogspot.com/

I am sure I will be contributing to Gerson's retirement fund. I have to get my double door finished first then I will hit this thing hard in mid July. It is very hard walking past the 15 to work on the double.
I guess if I rolled it as is...If the brakes failed I could just put my feet down and try to stop. _________________

Hey, this is Janyel...Mickey I totally think you could get away with throwing in an engine, tranny, tires and some breaks and rollin it as is! I agree with Kahlil..perfect patina. I love it and I know it is in good hands! Wes did awesome. _________________ 62 Singlecab - I kinda like it

Made a little progress today. Removed the front windshields to find some more goodies to fix. Also gave the rain gutter some loving.
Passenger side rain gutter before and after.
Lower front windshield.
Did some cleaning and removed the gas tank. Also checked out the transmission and it is a tunnel trans. _________________

The replacement dash came in the mail today. We got the old one out and the new one in ready to be welded. We will weld the second hole back up under the radio after its welded in. The wife is ready to dig into her project.. . If she is going to drive it she needs to know how to maintenance it.. I also started the tedious task of removing the old cargo floor.

Good work! I like the little brackets you used on the dash to line it all up. Seems like it would be a good time to take out that wiper motor with that easy access. _________________ http://ghostwagens.blogspot.com/
