Any chrome shop could get that looking like new again. I'm guessing the textured part of the frame was once painted. To do that, just paint that area, and wipe off the letters with a rag damp with thinner.

There is a place in Pomona that does great chrome work. Contact GizmoBob, and he will give you the contact. I have yet to do so, as I just inquired yesterday. Bob said it was in the $50 range.

I seriously doubt that. Many plating companies specialize in refinishing Steel. Not too many shops left that will plate Aluminum, and even more so finding a shop that will work with Pot Metal- which is what that frame is constructed of.
But you're in luck 69squareguy, try Sihilling Polishing in Anaheim. They can work with miracles on old pitted license frames. Expect to pay around $60-$100 though

A story in the Collectors Corner of the current Hot VW's says that a place called Sihilling Polishing in Santa Ana California does excellent work restoring old license plate frames. The owners name is Charlie Sihilling.

Oops, just read the rest of the previous post. Embarassed
