It seems that decals and stickers were a tradition back in the day. My Ghia still had decals that the original owner, who was a pilot, had applied. I'm in the process of replacing them.
Do you have any close up pics of decals and stickers?

I recognize a few of them. Here’s a few links to decent photos of the logos.
The bottom most photo is for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, or AOPA for short. You can possibly find a new one on EBay, but you normally get them when you join. https://www.google.com/search?q=mooney+aircraft+pi...niDtxETw2M
The one to the upper right is for the Mooney Aircraft Pilots Association. Also usually only obtainable when you join. https://www.google.com/search?q=mooney+aircraft+pi...EyI_zwBZuM
The last one I recognize is to the upper left, the Seaplane Pilots Association. Decal image here https://www.google.com/search?q=seaplane+pilots+as...TJNBrRAt5M
Unfortunately I can’t make out what the other ones are. If you want to try to find new replacements, keep an eye out on eBay or you could even try contacting the Associations and explaining that you are restoring the car and would like to replace the decals. They are only for showing off that you are a member, and aren’t used to give you access to restricted places or anything like that, so there’s a chance they would be willing to help you. Hope this helps! _________________ 1959 Fjord Blue Volkswagen Beetle

did you mean you wish to replace them with different stickers and want ideas? - otherwise you could just leave the flying ones on there and blag you're a pilot... _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Thanks so much for your effort. I'm afraid I didn't word my post too well. I was trying to start a thread of pics of folk's decals on VWs. The ones that were on my Ghia when I bought it were old and not representative of my interests. So, I removed them and will find different ones more to my liking. Thanks again, though. - Matt |

Thanks, finster. Actually I already removed the old pilot decals. The fuzzy pic in my post was all I had before I removed them. Now I have a clean window ready for my own... a simple "Genuine VW Parts" on one side and a color Wolfsburg shield on the other.
I was hoping to see all of the interesting examples of decals and stickers and where they are applied on VWs today, and any photos from the past. |
