As I posted elsewhere, many claim to have "invented" streamlining but it was rather a case of convergent evolution, both inside the car industry and through contamination from airplane construction. in Europe, Paul Jaray (coming from Zeppelin) at Tatra, Mario Revelli di Beaumont at fiat and Erwin Komenda at Daimler-Benz were all working on similar concepts concurrently and in the same time frame, resulting in a wawe of streamlined cars coming out in the 30s.
Incidentally, the same Erwin Komenda is almost universally recognized to be not only the designer of the beetle body, but also of the 356 and the first 911 as well, having worked for Porsche up to his death in 1966. As a technician in the Porsche engineering team he rarely took the spotlight, IMHO willingly, because the idea of a gifted family of geniuses was good marketing.
back in topic, Tom Tjaarda really had of course talent in designing cars all-around (like the Ford Fiesta MK1) but was IMHO particularly gifted in cars' asses. Sergio Sartorelli at Ghia ended up grafting Tjaarda's tail proposal on his prototype for the Karmann-Ghia typ34, and the Chevy Corvette "Rondine"'s rear treatment found its way (albeit toned down) on the 124 sport spider, and has been re-proposed on the modern reinterpretation of that car, too!

Agreed with what you are saying. I was surprised that Tjaarda had done that and of the date. It was just new to me. I knew he was with Ghia later on and though that was his only association with VW. There is more I don't know about the man then what I do know of him.

A Canadian by the name of Sam Panopoulos, creator of the 'Hawaiian' pizza, died this past Thursday at age 83. As stated in the article, he is credited with inventing the Hawaiian pizza, triggering endless debate around the world about the legitimacy of pineapple on the Italian staple. Even the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, responded to a question on that subject on Twitter.
