Restoration of an early '55 bug: Door pains! Those Phillips-head bolts holding window tracks and vent wing top mounts are awful to remove! I would love any tips on this...

drove my 56 oval to visit my 90 year old dad who is feeling miserable due to covid 'social distancing' for over 70s. 140 mile round trip and car ran great! _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

If you aren't concerned about the paint, get a bottle of the yellow MAP gas, get them red hot and they come out like butter. |

Giving a little luster back to this pitted rusty chrome bumper! Better for sure!

Took it out cruised thru portions on LA, LAX, Manhattan Beach. Like driving LA in the 50's on a Sunday......nice warm day top down, with no idiots to share the byways with.
Get out, its safe, gas is cheap...no excuse, youll probably never see it this unpopulated ever again.

Looking good. Yeah, I bet it is nice with light traffic vs the normal LA craziness. _________________ '68 Rust Bucket |

Feel your pain. Trying to make a grafted in ragtop look decent. Was done way before I got the car. Bondo on/bondo off. Much dust.
Looking for used but decent pan and fender bolts. Any hoarders out there that want to part with some?
Good luck to us all! |

Took a short trip thru LAX, which was empty. I need to go back down and do a photo shoot.

Love that picture! No cars anywhere else!
Regarding your last post. Traffic has been amazing. I had to drive out to Victorville the other day. There was no traffic anywhere. We got there in just under an hour and a half. Typically a two hour commitment at minimum. As a comparison, on one rainy day, it took 4 1/2 hours. _________________ Jimbo

Coming to the end of it's restoration/preservation after a couple of years...this thing sat in a field for at least 25 years that I know of prior to me finally buying it a couple years back.

After trying 2 weeks amd in process breaking 2 new windshields, I finally successfully managed to install new windshield without it breaking. This time it came out perfect and even chrome trim is perfectly flat against rubber with no scratches and dents.

Mahalo!
Here's a recent one where I finally installed the period correct bumpers that I've been saving in storage for 10 yrs.
