I don't see an obvious way to secure it to the floor of the van...have to add D rings or something to keep it in place on rough roads, accident, etc. Looks nice though. |
The edgestar feet can be modified to work in an Engel transit slide lock - a couple folks on expeditionportal have done it. |
That mount is pretty pricey too. Got to be a decent, less expensive way?

I wonder this too.

I replaced the cig plug with a 12v quick connect from Radioshack, it has one exposed and one concealed conector. Not sure what those are called. It has a 5A rating or so.
The connection is completely hiden from view. Hard wired line from fridge exits the rear of the fridge and connects to the Batt via quick connect (behind the fridge as well). _________________ sold -> '85 Wolfsburg Syncro / 'Built' DOHC EJ25 (a great machine!)

Got 'em from amazon... can't find the part, but it was similar to this:
http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-081-0148-25-D...sim_auto_3
Mine are 12 inch with a quick connect on both ends... cut to length & good to go! _________________ '86 x-1wd, now w/ 2wd! Wolfsburg Weekender

I added one beside the pass. seat, only used for the fridge. The two power cables to the fridge are ziptied
together, so one doesn't get stressed or pulled from the other. Lots of bad stories about the 12v one
getting broken. The shack has both the quick release and the 12v plug, but in the 110v model. I bought
the 110v that is the same shape as the 12v in case mine breaks.
Both the 110 an 12v wires are hidden behind the fridge and out of the way.
The jump seat's belt will only reach as far as the opposite corner of my 63 qt, so no it will not hold mine! _________________ '15 Audi A3 Quattro

It looks like Edgestar no longer produces fridges like this.
Can anyone find them online? _________________ 85 Westy

It's unfortunate that the Edgestar 12v fridge/freezers are no longer available, we've been using one for 12 years without any problems (knock on wood) except the cheap cigaret socket adaptor. Switched that out for a better one.
Great product for the money. We have the big 63 quart unit that we got for $426 with free shipping.
It's large but worth the room for long trips and shopping expeditions. Makes a good step up into the pop-top and a place to stretch out the legs with the front seat rotated.
Also have a smaller 37 quart ARB for use in our Honda Ridgeline that was twice as expensive! _________________ Currently:

I also have that same unit from about 10 years ago and agree that it is awesome.
I have a TF65 in my kitchen unit now and only bring the Edgestar along on events where we want to have extra provisions (mostly meats) for our group. _________________ Dave O

I have been looking at the Whynter and the iceco for a bit. I have a few questions before I order.
Has anyone used the iceco and can it keep ice cream hard or can it make ice? I had ice cream from a fridge that was at 0 degrees and it was a bit soft. Just trying to figure features out before we buy this summer. Thanks

I think ice cream freezes at 22F, so maybe 0 wasn't accurate. _________________ '15 Audi A3 Quattro

Agreed. My home freezer is at 5 degrees and the ice cream in it is like a rock. _________________ Dave O

does anyone here have the iceco VL60D? Trying to see how large it will be in the van and also trying to see how this fridge/freezer works. They are running a pretty good sale with free shipping today. Thanks _________________ 86 bostig SYNCRO
